Static IP address?

I'm a relative newbie to the hardware and software, but it seems that each time I reattach the camera to power and it reboots it gets assigned a new IP address by my school, and unless I'm mistaken the only way I can see that address is to attach a monitor to the Raspberry Pi and look it up with iconfig, but dragging a monitor and mouse and keyboard to the camera is a pain. Is there any way to a) assign a static IP to the camera every time it connects back to power and reboots or b) check what the camera's IP address is remotely? Thanks in advance.

The camera doesn't get an IP address, the Pi does. I set my Pi to static IP. I can also get on my WiFi router and see what the connected devices are.
Here are my notes for what I did to set a static IP. I use the vi editor; replace it with whatever editor you use. Also note that I'm using LAN, not Wi-Fi, and my local network is 192.168.0.

sudo vi /etc/dhcpcd.conf
	Edit starting line 43
	interface eth0
	static ip_address=192.168.0.202
	static routers=192.168.0.1
	static domain_name_servers=192.168.0.1, 8.8.8.8

As I said, I'm a relative newbie to this, so can you give more explicit details? Ifconfig returns (amongst other things) this:

And the dhcpcd.conf file has this section, which is presumably the section I need to uncomment and edit (right?):

So I'm guessing that I change "eth0" to "wlan" and set my chosen IP address, but I'm not sure what I would enter for the "static ip6_address," "static routers" and "static domain_name_servers:" lines.

@pmccudden Paul, For Wi-Fi, change the eth0 to wlan0.
What is the IP of your router? It's often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 but will sometimes start with a 10.. Whatever that address is goes on the static routers line.
I don't use IPv6 so don't have the ip6_address line.
For static domain_name_servers I suggest using your router's address followed by a space, followed by 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS server). If you don't use IPv6 then you don't need to enter the router's IPv6 address.
For static ip_address you need to pick a free IP address in your network. Make sure you include the /24.

Here's what I have for the LAN connection. My router is 192.168.0.1:

static routers=192.168.0.1
static domain_name_servers=192.168.0.1 8.8.8.8
