Changes to Config Server Firewall
For those who have yet to read, the company behind CSF (Way to the Web Ltd) have officially shut down, with the last version of ConfigServer Firewall being
v15.00
. A copy of the announcement is as follows:Continued Development
Anyone who still wishes to utilize CSF for your firewall needs; this repository will continue development on the software. I cannot say the same for the other applications that the company managed due to it requiring significant more time, however, CSF will continue to get updates and new features which will be released on this repository.
In the coming weeks, we will look at merging the dark theme with the original ConfigServer Firewall software and introduce a theme selector, that way the dark theme doesn't have to be applied manually, thus allowing you to switch whenever you wish. The original light theme will also be getting some revisions in order to conform with newer CSS standards and a more clean appearance. However, we will keep the original theme for users who wish to continue using what they know.
We're also going to take our tools that help with Docker integration, as well as pre-defined schema scripts we released here, and merge those with the original software as an integrated tool, so that users only need to configure the settings they want via templates.
And of course new functionality to the overall system to ensure it remains operational.
License Change
We've also updated our LICENSE to The GNU General Public License v3.0 to conform with the license that the original developers have migrated to.
Acknowledgements
Of course, it's only proper to take this time to thank the developer
Jonathan Michaelson
for his years of work on these projects. CSF takes me all the way back to the beginning days of cPanel, and it has been a vital part of my tool-belt, long after I even stopped using cPanel. Iptables and nftables are grreat, but it's always nice to just have a simple GUI that I can utilize.Final Legacy Build
For anyone wishing to download the final release of Jonathan Michaelson's non-Commercial products, you can visit the repository that he has set up to archive everything. We have also created a legacy branch within this repository to house the final releases.
Recent Changes
Due to the closure of Way to the Web Ltd, we have disabled the update servers in this repositories' version until we can get a new system functional. We're not aware of how long the official domain will remain active, but this ensures that the update endpoint cannot be hijacked and utilized for nefarious reasons. We're currently working on an artifact server which will help manage the update transfers.
v15.00 will drop in this repository soon, we're just re-doing our workflows, since the original structure relied on the official servers.
