Script Got Interrupted and Now I Can't Access NAS

Hi all,

Tried to use this script to get Container Manager on my DS418. Didn't work the first time (got stuck loading when I tried to open it) so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall it. Process got interrupted before I could type "yes" to put the version back. Once I restarted, I Iost access to the NAS. I can't access via the IP, the only way I can see it now is on Synology Assistant where it throws this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm a bit out of my depth. Thanks!

What is the URL of the webpage that opens if you click on the "this article" link?

DSM thinks you have migrated the HDDs from a DS423 so it wants to do a drive migration. Which is basically just installing the correct DSM version for your DS418, without touching your data volume(s) or users and settings etc.

Do you have SSH access?

Try this:

1. Start telnet by entering http://NAS-IP:5000/webman/start_telnet.cgi into your browser's address bar.
   • Replace NAS-IP with the IP address of the Synology NAS.
2. Open a telnet client on your computer and log in to telnet with:
   • root for the username
   • 101-0101 for the password (or 606-0d01 for the password)
3. Execute the following commands:

   /usr/syno/bin/synosetkeyvalue /etc/synoinfo.conf unique synology_rtd1296_ds418
   /usr/syno/bin/synosetkeyvalue /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf unique synology_rtd1296_ds418
   

4. Reboot.

Hm. Did this twice with no success. NAS still shows up in Synology Assistant (and when I ping it) but nowhere else.

By the way, when I connect to the DS via Synology Assistant, it pulls up this screen.

Okay. At least it knows the NAS is a DS418. The previous reboot may have set a flag on the drives to mark them as migrated.

Click on the Install button and let it install DSM. It should take less than 10 minutes (most of that is rebooting). Once it's finished all your data, users and settings will still be there.

PHEW. I was already going down the rabbit hole of buying a new NAS out of fear. Huge thanks! I was also about to install Container Manager with your script without a problem this time. Not sure what was different but it opened up right away instead of getting stuck on opening. Thanks again! Sending a few coffees your way
